Rio Rhythmics Terms and Conditions
Attending the correct courses for you
We have classes to suit the beginner through to performance-level dancers and it’s important to us you dance at the right level for your experience. All students are able to progress directly to their suitable dance level and are invited to speak to their dance instructors to get to your ‘sweet spot’ in the Academy and progress from there.
Course Packages & Memberships
For most offerings, you can pay in full upfront at the time of booking for your courses & membership, or via periodic direct debit.
Payment in full For all full payments, we accept EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard, or cash.
Direct Debits can be made from your bank account or Visa or Mastercard*. Debits are made at the start of each month (unless enrolled in a six week course, in which case they are charged fortnightly). If you commence a course midway through a month your Direct Debit first payment will be drawn on the day of your enrolment with following payments drawn on the 1st day of each subsequent month. Receipts are issued automatically via email. Failed Direct Debit may incur a dishonour fee from your banking institution through Ezi Debit.
Minimum 14 days notice required for all cancellation & freeze requests
Requests for refunds and cancellations must be made in writing to email@example.com a minimum of 14 days prior to the requested cancellation date.
For direct debits your cancellation will come into effect in the next direct debit bill cycle after the 14 day notice period.
Medical reasons for all cancellations and freezes
On presentation of a satisfactory medical certificate Rio Rhythmics may waive any cancellation or freeze fees and provide credit options at its discretion. Please note, such conditions are only available where the customer has provided written notice of their medical situation prior to the commencement of the classes they are unable to attend, within reason.
Freezing your payments & membership
Requests for membership freezes must be made in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org 14 days prior to the requested start date. During your membership freeze your fee will be reduced to $20 per month ($5 per week).
For those on any offered annual course package, your membership would be extended for the same number of months you suspend your membership. The minimum suspension period is 14 days and the maximum is six months.
Refunds & Cancellations – Detail per Service
Special Introductory Offers are non-refundable and expire 6 months after purchase.
Starter Course Package is fully refundable 24 hours prior to commencement of your course. Up until completion of your second class it is fully refundable less a $25 cancellation fee. After your second class your course is non-refundable.
All other Course Packages (1 Course Plus, 1 Course, 2 Course and Unlimited) & Memberships (Basic, Plus, Friends of Rio Rhythmics)
May be cancelled prior to term commencement less a $25 cancellation fee.
After term commencement you will receive a refund of remaining course amount (based on scheduled remaining number of classes in course) less a $25 cancellation fee.
As our courses are progressive, they are unable to be transferred. At the discretion of Rio Rhythmics’ management, your fees may be transferred to a following term or to another person by way of a credit.
Friends of Rio Rhythmics Memberships Are 12-month memberships, activated on day of purchase (or 1st January if purchased in advance of a new year). They can be purchased in full upfront.
Purchased as a standalone membership Are subject to the above terms. However due to the nature of, and immediate accessibility of, many benefits, they become non-refundable after 3 months.
Included within Unlimited Course Package this Memberships is active for the duration and dates that the Course Enrolment is active and for those benefits that apply during that duration and dates. Once course enrolment ends these benefits are no longer available. After a 6 month period the cancellation fee is reduced to $0.
Specialty Courses purchased individually, Workshops, Bootcamps, Latin Mix, Practica, Annual Ball Tickets, White Magic Ball Tickets & Gift Vouchers are non-refundable unless otherwise stated. They may be transferred to another person. Specialty Courses purchased within a Course Package are subject to the Course Package conditions
Private Training / Private Lessons are non-refundable but may be transferred. Booked lessons that you need to cancel may be re-booked at no additional cost if cancelled at least 8 hours prior to the scheduled lesson. Thereafter 50% of the Private Lesson fee will be charged.
Annual Memberships If an annual membership is available: If cancelling prior to completion of the 9-month minimum commitment period (suspended months do not count towards 12 full paid months) you will receive a refund of remaining course amount less the amount of two weeks of your membership as cancellation penalty. If cancelling thereafter you you will receive a refund of remaining course amount less a $25 cancellation fee.
Rolling / Ongoing Direct Debit
Rolling or ongoing direct debits are offered for some course options. Rolling direct debits will continue until you request they end. There is no minimum commitment, however requests for refunds and cancellations must be made in writing to email@example.com a minimum of 14 days prior to the requested cancellation date. For direct debits your cancellation will come into effect, less a $25 cancellation fee, in the next direct debit bill cycle after the 14 day notice period.
For any offered Annual memberships: payment will continue after the 12 month membership term unless you provide 14 days notice in writing prior to the end of the 12 month term to firstname.lastname@example.org. You will receive a reminder 30 days prior to your membership renewal date via email, this will be sent to the email address we have on file. If you have paid in full please contact us to arrange to continue your Membership.
Pro Rata Bookings
Pro rata bookings are only available from week six of the term for most Full (12 week) and Specialty Courses, or if you will be away for 3 or more weeks due to holiday or work commitments. It is your responsibility to attend the course/s you enrol in.
Enrolling after Term / Program has commenced
You are able to enrol in a course up until week 4 of the course. The term payment for the term will be made in full and the relevant number of Make-Up classes will be booked to cover the missed classes.
Any new student who enrols in a 12 week course in week 5, payment for the course/s will be made in full and a Catch-Up Private Lesson will be included to catch-up on the missed course material.
For enrollment from week 6 or for a minimum of 7 classes within a 12 week course, subject to availability, classes will be charged pro rata at the rate of $23 per class in conjunction with the number of private lessons suggested by an Instructor.
Personal Dance Training / Private Lessons
Payment must be made in full before or directly on completion of your session.
Upgrading to a Private Dance Training Multi-class pass
If you wish to purchase a private lesson multi-class pass on the same day as your private lesson you can include your first lesson within the discounted rate and the price of the pack will be discounted accordingly.
Unable to attend
May be re-booked at no additional cost if cancelled at least 8 hours prior to the scheduled lesson. Thereafter 50% of the Private Lesson fee will be charged.
If you have a Pre-Paid Private Lesson Multi-class pass you will lose the class that was cancelled. We will credit the remaining 50% towards your next purchase of any Private Class Pack/Single class (non-refundable, transferable or exchangeable).
Catch-Up Private Lessons
If unable to attend four or more classes within a short or full course, you can catch-up via a Catch-Up Private Lesson.
You must notify us in advance of the classes you will miss, and your reason for missing the classes must be legitimate eg. medical reasons, travel or other significant commitments.
One Catch-Up Lesson is available per missed course up to a maximum of three Catch Up privates (Our instructors will tailor the lessons to fit the catch-up requirements). Each Catch-Up Private Lesson is offered at no additional cost. The customer’s membership must be paid and current.
If you notify us after missing your classes we are unable to offer this service however you may undertake a limited number of Private Lessons at a discounted rate.
Private Lessons for Teacher development or related Purposes
Private lessons are for the benefit of your own personal growth, should you wish to take a private lesson for teaching development purposes please advise us prior to booking as different pricing options apply.
Health & Safety
When attending any of our services you acknowledge, understand and agree that you take full responsibility for your own health and wellbeing at all times throughout. You agree that:
You are participating in the class(es) and other activities with the Academy voluntarily. You understand that our offered services are not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment.
It is your responsibility to notify the instructor of any serious illness or injury that might impact your physical practice.
In the case where you have an injury, sickness or anything else that may be affected by physical activity, you confirm that you will have consulted with a physician to ensure that you can participate in the physical aspects of the services.
You will assume full responsibility for any risks, injuries, or damages (known and unknown) which you might incur as a result of your choice to participate.
You agree that neither the Academy, nor any facility our services may take place in, nor the Academy’s employees, officers or contractors are liable for any injuries, or damages, to person or property, resulting from your participation.
Make-Up Classes & missing a class in your Course
It is a customer’s responsibility to attend their courses. We allow up to three Make-Up Classes per course per term to allow you to take classes in place of those you have missed.
Cut-off time for notifying us you can’t make your class (by phone, 07 3844 1824 or email email@example.com) is 5pm on weekdays and one hour prior to class on weekends. After this time no Make-Up class will be available to you as our system will not have credited you an in-term class!
Make-Up classes are subject to availability, must be pre-booked and must be taken within the same term as your missed class. No credits will be provided where a Make- Up class is unavailable sorry.
If you are a Shift Worker please advise our team when booking your course as we will work to offer greater flexibility to support your schedule where possible.
Photography, video and digital recording
Please note that while attending our classes you consent to Rio Rhythmics, its officers, agents, employees and proprietors taking photographs, video and digital recordings or any other visual or audio recordings of you. Rio Rhythmics reserves the right to use photographs, video and digital recordings and in any medium, including the website, brochures or for marketing purposes.
Classes continue as normal on all public holidays, including Easter. Our administration however is closed on all public holidays.
Pricing and availability
Each course timeslot and fees are subject to change at Rio Rhythmics’ discretion.
Class cancellations due to events outside of our control
Rio Rhythmics reserves the right to cancel classes. In the event that classes are cancelled it is solely at the discretion of Rio Rhythmics to provide replacement class options, credit for missed classes or another form of replacement for missed classes, such as free entry to a party/ies.
PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information”.
We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?
We use the Order Information that we collect generally to fulfill any orders placed through the Site (including processing your payment information, arranging for shipping as applicable, and providing you with invoices and/or order confirmations). Additionally, we use this Order Information to:

– When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns) and to support us in our marketing activities for advertising and communications.
SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information, as described above.
